Trivia question #2 - Answer

The planetarium dome has holes in it for several reasons:

  1. To make the dome lighter (it's made of aluminum)

  2. To let air circulate through the dome for air conditioning and heating

  3. To let sound go through the dome so that speakers for the sound system can be mounted behind the dome

  4. To control reflections from images projected on the dome
