Discovering Trigonometry
This is an interactive tutorial on Trig. It allows the students
to drag the hypotenuse and discover the ratios for sine, cosine
and tangent. It then uses a circle and a line graph to show how
the sine, cosine and tangent curves are drawn. The frequency and
amplitude graphs are particularly interesting.
ENC
Reform in Action
This is the Eisenhower National Clearing House Link list. It is
organized by mathematics subject areas and is more user friendly
than it used to be. It also has "The Digital Dozen"
which are web sites that they have chosen as the best. Choose
"Math Topics", then look under Advanced Mathematics.
ExploreMath
A large site that has new interactive exercises added almost monthly.
Most of the activites are Algebra based and include such things
as absolute value, exponential and logarithmic functions, conic
sections and least squares line of best fit. Be sure to read the
explorations ideas at the top of each applet to get some ideas
of how to use the applet most effectively.
GCSE Answers'
Mathematics Department Menu
Interactive tutorials and quizzes on all Trig topics. Arranged
in two levels, easy and heavy duty. Some diagrams used with quizzes.
Manipula
Math with Java
This site has 23 Java APPLETS for Trigonometry and miscellaneous
APPLETS for Precalculus. Check under Miscellaneous and under Calculus.
Math
for Morons Like Us
This is a Think Quest site (written by students) that has interactive
quizzes on algebra I and II, geometry and precalculus as well
as some tutorials. The quizzes do not have drawings; they are
just questions.
Maths
Online
Choose Gallery to see a list of interactive APPLETS with
exercises. There are some that are for Trigonometry and Functions
2 would be good for Precalculus. The exercises that go with these
APPLETS are very good. You can also choose interactive tests from
the home page and choose from the lists of tests. These are also
very good.
Moving
Man
This is an applet that shows a stick figure walking from home
to school, and plots the graph of the motion at the same time.
It works like the CBL motion detector, but with a stick figure.
It also has more options than the CBL, since velocity and acceleration
vs. time graphs can also be created.
Think
Quest Library (Math)
Practice multiple choice questions on various topics. The questions
are very challenging. Feedback is provided. Topics covered: Linear,
Quadratic and Polynomial functions, Exponents and Logs, Trig functions
and equations, Polar coordinates and complex numbers. Click on
Testing Center.
Trigonometry
Review
This site has three interactive quizzes. The first has 12 questions
on definitions of trig values, the second has 30 questions on
the values of trig functions in Quadrant I and the third has 23
questions on trig identities.
Trigonometry
Tutorial
This leads students through the basics of trigonometry using
interactive diagrams.
XfunctionsXpresso
This is a function grapher with special features that allow the
user to enter an equation like y = kx^2, then animate the graph
to see what happens. It handles all functions and has some other
utilities in the upper right hand corner on a pull down menu such
as parametrics, animate and Graph 3-D. All Trig functions are
included.
