Instructional Technology

Technology is a critical "tool" in the high school Program of Studies. Technology is infused in the instructional program and enhances learning in the content areas. Effective integration of technology allows students to select technology tools to help them obtain information, analyze and synthesize the information, and communicate it effectively and professionally. Our mission is to provide quality resources and materials to students and teachers to effectively integrate technology, not in isolation, but rather as an integral tool for learning and communicating within the content areas.

"The Challenge facing America's schools is the empowerment of all children to function effectively in their future, a future marked increasingly with change, information growth, and evolving technologies.  Technology is a powerful tool with enormous potential for paving high-speed highways from outdated educational systems to systems capable of providing learning opportunities for all, to better serve the needs of 21st century work, communications, learning, and life."

National Educational Technology Standards for Students: Connecting Curriculum and Technology, ISTE, 2000

The use of technology is an integral part of Fairfax County Public Schools Program of Studies. The effective use of technology in the instructional program supports, motivates, and enhances student learning.
