Fatherhood Panels

Fatherhood Panels... A road to understanding and embracing the importance of a father's role in his children's lives.

What are Fatherhood Panels?

Fatherhood panels consist of a selected group of men who represent diverse fathering arrangements as well as various racial, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.

Panel members address how family dynamics, culture, and beliefs relate to the interpersonal connections made within families, school communities, and businesses. Panelists represent the two-parent home, single-parent family, and nonresidential or long distance father dynamic. Typical topics include the following:
  • Perspectives on child rearing
  • Beliefs, values, customs, and traditions, and how they relate to and impact education
  • Language and communication
  • Gender roles
  • Father involvement strategies
  • Barriers to father's involvement
  • Father-mother relationships

Who can benefit from a panel on fatherhood?

Fatherhood panels are a useful resource for all types of organizations.

  • Schools
  • Businesses
  • Community outreach organizations
  • Religious groups
  • Civic organizations
  • Family service providers
  • Preschools and day care centers

Research shows that fathers who are involved in raising their children have children with a higher likelihood of success in school.
