Guest Speakers give short presentations to student groups in their area of expertise.

The Virginia Technology Education Association (VTEA) is looking for guest speakers (20 to 25 minutes) for the summer conference. The two opportunities are for the General Session meeting and the Awards Dinner. The preferred topic is new or emerging technologies.

Health and Medical Sciences guest speakers with real-world experience are valued as they bring expertise to a variety of health care careers. Health care professionals are welcomed to offer insights of workplace experiences and expectations.

Student Competition Judge evaluates student skills in areas such as web page development, presentation design, trade skills, problem-solving and interview skills.


Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) seeks volunteers who will play the role of an employer, rating student participants as they apply for a job in the business world. Expertise is needed to evaluate these high school business students during the FBLA Regional Leadership Conference.

DECA, a national association for marketing students, seeks judges for their local competition. As you play the role of a customer, employee, or manager, you will rate student participants as they solve real life business situations. Your expertise is needed to evaluate these high school marketing students during the DECA District Leadership Conference.

Participating as a judge for a SkillsUSA contest is a rewarding and uplifting experience. Students will be competing is areas that do not require specific knowledge as well as areas that do. Specific knowledge areas are: Culinary Arts, Cosmetology, Auto tech, Auto Collision, Construction, HVAC, Electrical Construction, Computer Networking, Computer Repair, and TV Productions. Non-specific knowledge areas are: Community Service, Scrapbook, Chapter Events, Technical Writing, Quiz Bowl, and Spelling Bee.

The Virginia Technology Students Association is seeking volunteers for events at local and state competitions such as Techno-sphere in Hampton , VA.


Job Shadow Sponsor allows a student to follow a business person through the course of a day in an attempt to learn more about a specific occupation.


Groundhog Job Shadow Day is a one-day career exploration experience that provides students with an opportunity to interview and shadow a workplace mentor in the technology industry in order to gain information about career opportunities.
The shadowing experience will offer students a unique opportunity to investigate firsthand what career opportunities will be available to them in the future as the economy and labor market continue to evolve in Northern Virginia.
