The International Technology Education Association (ITEA) is the professional organization for technology, innovation, design, and engineering educators. Our mission is to promote technological literacy for all by supporting the teaching of technology and promoting the professionalism of those engaged in this pursuit. ITEA strengthens the profession through leadership, professional development, membership services, publications, and classroom activities.

ITEA's MISSION

ITEA's mission is to advance technological capabilities for all people and to nurture and promote the professionalism of those engaged in these pursuits. ITEA seeks to meet the professional needs and interests of members as well as to improve public understanding of technology, innovation, design, and engineering education and its contributions.

ITEA represents more than 35,000 technology educators in the U.S. alone who are developers, administrators, and university personnel in the field representing all levels of education. ITEA corporate members are comprised of leading technology companies.

ITEA conducts various professional development programs and holds an Annual Conference in the United States- the largest technology education showcase of exhibits and educational sessions in the world. ITEA collaborates with its sister associations from around the world in international conferences hosted in selected countries.

ITEA publishes The Technology Teacher, Technology and Children, The Journal of Technology Education, TrendScout, Bright Ideas, and a variety of other publications that lead the profession by providing teaching directions, instructional ideas, and networking opportunities.

ITEA sponsors an active honors and awards program that recognizes outstanding teachers and programs (K-12) from states, provinces, and countries that are affiliated with the Association. ITEA also presents award certificates and supports other programs, which recognize outstanding efforts in the technology teaching profession.

ITEA conducts a vigorous public policy program, frequently providing information to government, agencies, associations, and other special interest groups concerning technology education. The association strives to provide an understanding of the importance of technological literacy through technology, innovation, design and engineering education to the future growth and well-being of all nations.

Virginia Technology Education Association (VTEA)

Since 1958, the Virginia Technology Education Association, an organization of technology education professionals promoting the programs of technology education  and  their ideas, sponsors programs and activities for students and teachers, produces
publications and continues to advance work for the profession of technology education.

Vision and Mission

Members of the association have envisioned a citizenry which is technologically literate, where each person is prepared to function effectively in and contribute to a technological society and global economy.

Springing from this vision, the VTEA assumes the mission to support teachers who teach about
technology and give direction to the Virginia profession of technology education.

Goals

VTEA are also guided by four goals:

  4. Leadership Development
