*FASHION MARKETING 1 (814000)

This is a specialized option that enables students to investigate and prepare for careers in fashion marketing and design. The objective is to provide students with preparation in the technology of fashion merchandising that will lead to immediate employment and/or become the basis for continuing education. Students may supplement the classroom instruction through an internship experience, or they may enroll in the course without the additional commitment required through on-the-job training. A trip to the New York garment district may be included. While enrolled in the course, the student is an active member of DECA, an association of marketing students. (Students interested in this course should also see Fashion Design 1 under Family and Consumer Sciences.) Students may take this course in conjunction with Marketing Cooperative Work Experience (Coop).
Industry Certification: Industry certification may be available as part of this course.
Diploma Seal: Students successfully completing this course may be eligible to earn a Career and Technical Education Diploma Seal.
Sequential Elective: Students successfully completing this course in conjunction with another one credit course within the same program area will satisfy the sequential elective requirement for the Standard or Modified Standard diploma.
Verified Credit: Successful completion of this course in conjunction with a corresponding industry certification may qualify for a student selected verified credit.
