Prerequisite: Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy 1 (836527)
With emphasis upon individual interests and strengths, Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy 2 provides a more in-depth study of the topics covered in the first-level course. From a wide range of clinical settings serving diverse patient populations, students will be able to select and participate in a clinical experience of their choice. The course work will focus on the advancement of problem-solving skills, hands-on techniques, and interpersonal skills with an introduction to clinical research. There will be a greater emphasis on musculoskeletal anatomy during the first two quarters of this course. This course is most appropriate for students anticipating employment or further studies in physical therapy, occupational therapy, or other related healthcare careers. Students must purchase liability insurance to participate in clinical experiences. An articulation of five credits towards the Physical Therapy Assistant program is available with Northern Virginia Community College . NOCTI certification in National Health Care Foundation Skills Standards Assessment is offered to students. Diploma Seal: Students successfully completing this course may be eligible to earn a Career and Technical Education Diploma Seal.
Sequential Elective: Students successfully completing this course in conjunction with another one credit course within the same program area will satisfy the sequential elective requirement for the Standard or Modified Standard diploma.
Verified Credit: Successful completion of this course in conjunction with a corresponding industry certification may qualify for a student selected verified credit.
