The Edison Academy has begun training for the Academy Ambassadors (student spokespersons from academy classes). Ambassadors-in-training attended a workshop on business etiquette and professionalism focusing on podium poise, professional speaking, professional dress, and making formal introductions.

The Fairfax County Government Office of Consumer Affairs presented a workshop for over 200 Edison Academy students on Consumer’s Rights and Responsibilities in regards to making contracts, purchasing, lease agreements, and general rules for the use of credit and protecting oneself from identify thief.

Internship Opportunities
Fairfax County Government’s Department of Vehicle Services (DVS) employees visited and made presentations on the DVS internship and employment opportunities to over 50 Automotive Technology and Automotive Collision and Repair students. Students will tour five DVS facilities to gain a better understanding of the opportunities available.

Students throughout the county participated in a job fair sponsored by the Fairfax County Public Schools’ Department of Information Technology (DIT). Managers from DIT conducted informational interviews for students interested in the internship opportunities. Students were able to explore a variety of areas of DIT to determine the office that best suits their skills and interests. Students must next submit their resumes and be interviewed for the positions. All internships extend from January to May.
