Registration
Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-enrolled basis. Registration closes when courses and/or sites reach capacity or on June 24, whichever comes first. Only students with a current FCPS IEP may register for these courses. The student’s special education teacher, counselor, or department chairperson must sign registration Form A to ensure proper placement. See registration requirements, dates, and tuition.
Attendance Requirements
More than two cumulative days of absence, for any reason, from any high school course will result in the student’s withdrawal from summer school as outlined in FCPS Student Responsibilities and Rights (2601.P). Detailed information will be distributed to parents and students. Students must successfully complete course requirements to receive credit.
Transportation
Transportation is provided for the special education content courses offered at Lake Braddock Secondary School. However, bus stops are not the same as those during the school year. Students who receive specialized transportation during the regular school year may be eligible to receive similar accommodations during the summer. If such accommodations are needed, please contact the special education department chair at your high school. The summer school principal will provide bus stop and program information to students who register by June 24.
Food Services
Students can purchase sandwiches, chef salads, pizza, and snack items during lunch at a la carte prices. Vending service will also be available.
High School Grading
Student grades will be calculated according to guidelines outlined in FCPS High School Grading and Reporting to Parents Handbook‡. Please note, students who withdraw between July 9 and July 14 may do so without a grade penalty. Students who withdraw between July 15 and July 30 will receive a mark of withdrawn failing (WF) or withdrawn passing (WP). Students who withdraw between July 31 and August 7 will receive a mark of WP or F (fail).
‡ Class rank and grade point average (GPA) are calculated on the basis of all courses for which credit has been earned or attempted, including repeated courses, previously passed.
