International Baccalaureate Music Assistance
Grades 10-12 (#IFT1561)
Audition required.
Intended for International Baccalaureate music students. Students work on the outside requirements of IB Music, including musical investigation, music composition, analysis of required works, solo recital preparation, and summer assignments.

Bass Guitar

Learn to read music and play the bass guitar using various styles and techniques. Students must provide bass guitar and amplifier.

Jazz Band

Study and rehearse jazz literature with attention to ensemble and improvisation. Course includes large- and small-group instruction. Students must provide instrument.

Bass Guitar II

Advanced study of performance techniques and literature stressed in Jazz, Rock, Pop, Funk, and Fusion styles. Students must provide bass guitar and amplifier.

Music Theory

Diagnostic test required—Test offered during audition process.
This course provides a thorough study of the basic elements of music including, but not limited to music notation, clef reading, harmony, melodic and rhythm comprehension.

Choral Workshop

Learn some musical theory while singing your heart out. Improve your vocal skills while singing in Folk, Pop, Broadway, Jazz, and Classical styles in a large group setting.

Piano I

Learn to read music and play the piano. The course is self-paced through independent study. Students play electronic keyboards.

Electronic Music Lab

Use computer technology to create music. Learn about music composition and music theory through the use of music notation software.

Piano-Advanced
Grades 7-12 (#IFT1761)

Advanced study of piano techniques and literature. The course is self-paced through independent study. Students play electronic keyboards.

Garage Band
Grades 9-12 (#IFT1446)
Audition required.
Make music! Band together with other musicians. Play cover tunes, and create original sounds. Students must provide instruments and amplifiers.

Show Choir
Grades 7-12

Audition required for both levels.
Students are offered a blend of choral and dance opportunities in the show and swing choir genre. Emphasis is placed on the development of musicianship and choreographic skills through the use of an ensemble experience.

Play guitar using both pick and finger style techniques. Learn to read chord symbols, tablature, and traditional notation. Students must provide acoustic guitar, picks, and extra strings.

Enhance your sight-reading skills. Explore ensemble literature for strings. Literature selection based on instrumentation. Students must provide their own instrument. (A full orchestra experience may be included.)
