Seeking instructors for...

Apprenticeship
Professional series courses in project management and construction industry.

Apprenticeship is seeking qualified trades professionals with skills and experience in the construction industry to teach the following new course offerings:

Safety, Construction Documents, Estimating and Cost Control, and Scheduling

Classes meet once a week for three hours for a total of 15 hours; various locations throughout Fairfax County. Teaching and/or training experience preferred. All applicants will be processed according to established Fairfax County Public Schools hiring procedures.

Arts
Arts program is seeking part-time instructors for studio arts, painting, drawing, photography, and other mediums at Herndon High School. Teach adults in informal, hands-on classes during evening hours Monday - Thursday. Qualifications: professional competency in the medium you wish to teach.

Seeking part-time instructors for calligraphy, needle arts, and studio arts for evening classes at various locations throughout Fairfax County and Saturday classes at Lake Braddock High School. Qualifications: professional competency in the medium you wish to teach.

Seeking part-time instructors for September-December, 2008 classes. Qualifications: BA/MA Fine Arts in photography, painting, drawing, fine craft, or interior design. Must complete the FCPS application process before teaching. Must be flexible about locations throughout Fairfax County and available to teach weeknight and Saturday morning classes.

Also seeking part-time instructors for:

  • photography classes using the digital camera
  • short workshops in various aspects of paper arts, such as card making and paper cutting
  • classes and workshops in quilting
  • workshops in faux finish and decorative painting techniques
  • Sumi-e classes

Interested in teaching a business course? We’re always looking for great instructors in a variety of business fields, including communications. E-mail business@fcps.edu or call 703-658-1219 if you are interested in teaching an existing class or proposing a new one.

Communications
Seeking part-time instructors for speaking, writing, and interpersonal communications classes. Contact business@fcps.edu or call 703-658-1219.  If you wish to teach creative writing courses such as short story writing, contact homeimprovement@fcps.edu or call 703-658-1222.

Culinary
Whether out of sheer interest or necessity, people are flocking back to their kitchens. If you have professional training as a chef or caterer, consider sharing your culinary passion with motivated adults. Elementary Enrichment
Seeking part-time instructors to teach Robotics to elementary students. Qualifications: applicants should have some engineering in their background. If you would like to share your knowledge, contact Kristine Ruscello 703-658-1247 or kristine.ruscello@fcps.edu.

Floral Design

Foreign Language
Foreign Language Experience (FLEX) is seeking part-time Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish instructors for elementary age students before or after school. Qualifications: native or fluent speaker experience teaching or working with children. Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required. Outside the Textbook foreign language instructors are needed for after school enrichment programs for grades 7-8. If you can teach German, Japanese, Italian, French, or Spanish, this is a great opportunity to help students develop their foreign language conversational skills. Health and Medical
Registered nurses needed to teach medical terminology, clinical skills and other nursing-related classes. International culture/language - have you traveled extensively, worked with international organizations, or lived abroad immersed in a different culture? Are you interested in sharing your knowledge and experiences with others? We are seeking additional instructors for our cultures and language classes. Personal Growth

SAT Preparation
Secondary enrichment is now accepting applications for instructors who are interested in teaching SAT preparation: critical reading and writing and SAT preparation: math. Interested individuals are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Qualifications: endorsement in English and math preferred for all courses; however, graduate students and individuals with experience in the subject area are also encouraged to apply. Trade and Industry
Seeking qualified Trade and Industry instructors to teach the following courses:
