Apprenticeship
Optician - Levels 1, 2, and 3 - We are pleased to announce that ACE will again offer opticianry apprenticeship related instruction. We are currently recruiting part-time teachers for levels 1, 2 and 3. Course curriculum and lesson plan support provided. Classes meet from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm one night per week from September 2008 to May 2009 at selected locations. (These classes are designed to complement on-the-job training provided by the employer.)
Course content includes: theory of light, prism refraction and reflection, refractive index, ocular anatomy, eye anomalies, basic lenses, prescription interpretation, prismatic effect, transposition, and power cross. Arts
Arts program is seeking part-time instructors for studio arts, painting, drawing, photography, and other mediums at Herndon High School. Teach adults in informal, hands-on classes during evening hours Monday - Thursday. Qualifications: professional competency in the medium you wish to teach.
Seeking part-time instructors for calligraphy, needle arts, and studio arts for evening classes at various locations throughout Fairfax County and Saturday classes at Lake Braddock High School. Qualifications: professional competency in the medium you wish to teach.
Seeking part-time instructors for May-July, 2008 and September-December, 2008 classes. Qualifications: BA/MA Fine Arts in photography, painting, drawing, fine craft, or interior design. Must complete the FCPS application process before teaching. Must be flexible about locations throughout Fairfax County and available to teach weeknight and Saturday morning classes.
Also seeking part-time instructors for:
- photography classes using the digital camera
- short workshops in various aspects of paper arts, such as card making and paper cutting
- classes and workshops in quilting
- workshops in faux finish and decorative painting techniques

Foreign Language
Foreign Language Experience (FLEX) is seeking part-time Chinese and Spanish instructors for elementary age students before or after school. Outside the Textbook foreign language instructors are needed for after school enrichment programs for grades 7-8. If you can teach German, Japanese, Italian, French, or Spanish, this is a great opportunity to help students develop their foreign language conversational skills. SAT Preparation
Secondary enrichment is now accepting applications for instructors who are interested in teaching SAT preparation: critical reading and writing and SAT preparation: math. Interested individuals are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Qualifications: endorsement in English and math preferred for all courses; however, graduate students and individuals with experience in the subject area are also encouraged to apply.
