To be considered for employment in a summer school position, a candidate must submit a completed application to:

The application form is provided online for easy access. A hard copy must be mailed to Human Resources through either the United States Postal Service (USPS) or Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) Pony.  Please include all required documentation to the Summer School Office.   E-mailed documents will not be accepted.

Prior to mailing, please ensure that all requested information is provided in each section of the application form.  Failure to do so will delay the processing of the application.

Deadline for Submitting Applications

The deadline for receipt of instructional applications for Institute for the Arts and Tech Adventure Camp is March 28, 2008. The application deadline for Special Education Instructional Assistants and FECEP is April 18, 2008. However, applications are accepted throughout the spring to meet ongoing needs. Interested and qualified individuals are encouraged to apply.

Applications received by the above posted deadlines will be given priority consideration.

Application Completion Requirement Process

Application process for contracted FCPS teachers and instructional assistants:

A completed application form that includes the principal’s or designee’s recommendation and signature. Resumes are not required for current FCPS employees.
Application process for teachers and instructional assistants not currently employed or contracted with FCPS includes the following:

  • A completed application form
  • A resume
  • Two signed letters of reference (one of which should be from a current employer or college/university professor, dated within the last year)
  • A valid teacher license, or evidence documenting qualification for licensure such as college or university transcripts showing degrees earned, or letter from the registrar stating all requirements for licensure have been completed or will be completed by the July 1, 2008 (required of teacher applicants only).

The above process also pertains to individuals currently working as FCPS substitutes and early hires for 2008-2009 school year.

After you receive notification of a position you will need to come to Human Resources to finalize the process. You must bring the following information with you:

  • Two forms of identification (i.e. driver’s license, social security card, birth certificate or a passport)
  • A negative TB Test that is no more than 1 (one) year old
  • A voided check or a savings deposit slip with the account number for direct deposit

When you come to Human Resources for processing, you will be given tax information to complete, be fingerprinted and receive an identification badge.
