Kaiser Permanente Participant Message

As you may have heard, late on Thursday, November 6, FCPS was notified of a criminal data breach which could potentially include information for those FCPS health plan participants using pharmacy benefits administered through Express Scripts (ESI).  If you participate in the Kaiser Permanente medical plan, you are not affected by this issue. 

Express Scripts is taking this breach very seriously. The company has taken steps to reduce any further potential risk, complied with state notification requirements, and notified the FBI, and is continuing to investigate this incident.  At this time, Express Scripts is not aware of any misuse of individuals’ information and is instituting enhanced controls for its clients’ systems.

FCPS is deeply concerned about this kind of breach, which could adversely affect our employees. We expect and deserve the highest level of security when we entrust our vendors to handle our employees’ personal information. We are pursuing this matter with Express Scripts on behalf of our employees.
