Please visit any of the referral web sites below or call the listed numbers for “emergency assistance” that correspond with your home area.

NOTE: Employee Emergency Relief Fund is Discontinued
It is with great regret that the OEC reports that the Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) Employee Emergency Relief Fund has been phased out. This year, the sources of contributions (e.g., donations, fundraisers, and United Way) that sustained the fund were infrequent or discontinued. Through the years, and especially during the holiday season, this fund has assisted many FCPS employees experiencing financial crises. The fund has benefited individuals and families who would have otherwise been without heat, water, or electricity.

While efforts could be made to generate additional funds, there are several factors that make it impractical to do so. First, in recent years, the needs have far exceeded the funds capacity. Secondly, the Employee Emergency Relief Fund was established to empower employees during a time of crisis; however, over the course of time, a few employees came to view it as an entitlement and frequently submitted repeat requests, year after year. And finally, because of the level of support required, OEC could not continue to allocate staff resources for the management of the fund.

OEC recognizes staff members desire to assist those in need, and this action should not discourage our generous nature or spirit of giving. Employees may seek other opportunities to contribute their time, energy, and finances, such as supporting food banks, established charities, community programs, United Way, etc.

In closing, OEC staff extends its gratitude for your past contributions and support of the Employee Emergency Relief Fund. Thanks to all of our employees for entrusting the OEC with their funds and for allowing us to be of service to you and your families.
