Step 1 – Gather in your hands official proof that may be applicable to you below to support your eligibility to obtain a valid 5-year professional license from the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE).

If your 5-year license was converted to provisional license to add required endorsement and your provisional license expired, then you must gather the following bulleted official proof that may be applicable to you.

AND/OR
If your 5-year or one-year extended professional license expired, then you must assemble your complete license renewal packet by using the instructions and forms in effect as of September 21, 2007.

Step 2 – Attach your signed and dated letter to the attention VDOE-Licensure requesting a valid 5-year professional license to your gathered proof.

Step 3 - Send your request letter and proof in a single packet via pony mail or postal mail to the FCPS Licensure Office, Department of Human Resources, Gatehouse Administration Center I, 8115 Gatehouse Road, Falls Church, VA 22042. Remember to include your FCPS ID number on your documents.

Upon receipt of your packet, FCPS Licensure Office will transmit your request packet with FCPS payment to VDOE for their final review and decision. About 4-6 weeks from transmittal date, VDOE should send your valid 5-year professional license to your home address on file in FCPS HR and you gain “expired? = No” status on your school report.
