- Gather Proof in Your Hands to Support Your VA License Eligibility
BEST PROOF -
A copy of your valid VA professional license obtained by your completion of a VA state approved license endorsement program at a VA college/university identified on http://www.doe.virginia.gov/VDOE/newvdoe/CollegeEndorsements.pdf . These VA colleges/universities will apply to the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) for the issuance of your valid VA 5-yr professional license to your home address in their records after you complete their licensure program in its entirety, including student teaching and/or practicum.
OR
VA PROVISIONAL LICENSE ELIGIBILTY PROOF –
- Official transcript(s) with conferred US or US equivalent bachelor’s degree at minimum. If you hold foreign credential(s), you must obtain an official U.S. equivalent bachelor’s degree and US equivalent coursework transcript(s) from one of the approved VDOE evaluators on http://www.doe.virginia.gov/VDOE/newvdoe/ForeignCredentials.pdf

AND
- For Experienced Out-of-State Teacher – A valid out-of-state professional license (its expiration year at least a year or two from present school year) with comparable license endorsement AND a copy of Report on Experience
form(s) filled out, signed, and dated by previous school principal(s) verifying 3 or more years contracted f/t teaching prek-12 in a state other than VA. More than one form may be completed to add up to at least 3 years
- For Foreign Language Native Speaker – A copy of his/her official ACFTL oral (OPI) and written (WPI) foreign language test score sheets AND a copy of his/her score sheet from www.ets.org for passing Praxis II applicable to the foreign language license endorsement. FCPS may staff vacancy(-ies) for the following foreign language endorsed teacher positions at schools/centers as they become available - American Sign Language, Arabic PreK-12, Chinese PreK-12, French PreK-12, German PreK-12, Italian PreK-12, Japanese PreK-12, Korean PreK-12, Latin PreK-12, Russian PreK-12, Spanish PreK-12.
- Submit your resume and scanned copies of your gathered proof. You may want to use copies of these documents in your interview(s) with principal(s)/program manager(s) with vacant FCPS instructional position(s) sought by you.
- If a principal is interested hiring you after interview, he/she must submit a request to hire and a request for unofficial VA licensure review to the school’s employment specialist along with the documents that you gathered as your proof of license eligibility. If the unofficial review yields that you are eligible, the principal and/or employment specialist may continue the interviewing process and/or possibly extend a job offer. If the unofficial review yields that you are not eligible, you will need to obtain a valid VA professional license by completing a VA state approved license endorsement program to become eligible to apply for FCPS instructional position(s) in the future.
