Recruiting Instructional Personnel* and Meeting VDOE Licensure Requirements

* Instructional personnel refers to teachers, pupil personnel service licensed employees i.e. school counselors, school psychologists, school social workers, school speech pathologists, school administrators - assistant principals, principals, program managers…

** below refers to original official copies of these items collected upon accepting FCPS job offer.

• If you already hold a valid Virginia license, please submit on Instructional Vacancies your resume which includes your VA license type i.e. Post Graduate or Collegiate or Pupil Personnel Service or Technical Professional or Provisional…etc, its expiration date, and endorsement(s) as indicated for your record on the VDOE public license query on https://p1pe.doe.virginia.gov/tinfo/. You must scan a copy of your valid VA license to load along with your resume as well as take copies along to FCPS recruitment events, job fairs, and/or interview at school(s).
  
  
• If you hold a valid out-of-state 5-yr/professional license and have 3 or more years of full-time contracted teaching prek-12 experience in state(s) other than VA, please submit on Instructional Vacancies your resume which includes your out-of-state 5-yr/professional license(s), validity period(s), and endorsement(s) listed. You must obtain the following additional items to scan and load along with your resume as well as take copies along to FCPS recruitment events, job fairs, and/or interview at school(s) –
  1. A copy of your CARI competency record obtained via http://www.fcps.edu/DHR/employees/licensure/cari.htm is required.
  2. Your Report on Experience form(s) filled out, signed, and dated by previous school principal(s) verifying 3 or more years contracted f/t teaching prek-12 in a state other than VA. More than one form may be completed to add up to at least 3 years.
  3. A copy of your valid out-of-state professional teaching license(s). NOTE: Reciprocity for out-of-state license means VA license with comparable endorsement areas.
  4. If applicable, a copy of your College Verification Form filled out by licensure designee at college/university where a state approved teacher/licensure program was completed.
  5. Your official transcript(s)** collected by you from regionally accredited college/university registrar’s office and/or If applicable to you, a copy of your US degree(s) and US coursework equivalency document for your foreign degree and/or foreign coursework obtained from one of the VDOE approved foreign credential evaluating agencies.
  6. Your original signed and dated Initial VA License Application Form**
     
     
• If you do not hold a license but completed a US state approved teacher/pupil personnel service licensure program and passed VA licensure exams in 5. – 7. below which are applicable to ONLY teacher endorsement(s), please submit on Instructional Vacancies your resume which includes the name of the licensure program you completed like “Elementary Education prek-3” or “Middle Education 6-8 Science” or “School Counseling prek-12”, etc., the name of your US regionally accredited college/university where you completed this program, your US bachelor’s and if applicable higher degree(s) conferred, corresponding conferral date(s) along with your passing VA licensure exams scores. You must obtain the following additional items in your hand to scan and load along with your resume as well as take copies along to FCPS recruitment events, job fairs, and/or interview at school(s)

• If you want to teach and hold a Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) Statement of Eligibility for a provisional in teacher or pupil personnel service endorsement sought and passed VA licensure exams in 5. – 7. below which are applicable to ONLY teacher endorsement(s), please submit on Instructional Vacancies your resume which includes your VA statement of eligibility, endorsement(s) listed, and your passing VA licensure exams scores. You must obtain the following additional items in your hand to scan and load along with your resume as well as take copies along to FCPS recruitment events, job fairs, and/or interview at school(s)
  1. A copy of your CARI competency record obtained via http://www.fcps.edu/DHR/employees/licensure/cari.htm is required.
  2. A copy of your VDOE Statement of eligibility for teacher/pupil personnel service endorsement sought.
  3. If applicable, a copy of your College Verification Form filled out by licensure designee at college/university where a state approved teacher/licensure program was completed.
  4. Your official transcript(s)** collected by you from regionally accredited college/university registrar’s office and/or If applicable to you, a copy of your US degree(s) and US coursework equivalency document for your foreign degree and/or foreign coursework obtained from one of the VDOE approved foreign credential evaluating agencies.
  5. A copy of your score sheet from www.ets.org for passing Praxis II if applicable to your teaching endorsement.

• If you want to teach special education, have your official transcripts reflecting at least a US or US equivalent bachelor’s degree conferred and reflecting your successful completion of the provisional (special education) pre-requisite coursework, please submit on Instructional Vacancies your resume which includes this information. You must obtain the following additional items in your hand to scan and load along with your resume as well as take copies along to FCPS recruitment events, job fairs, and/or interview at school(s)

Your original signed and dated SPED application forms I and II on http://www.fcps.edu/DHR/employees/licensure/pdfs/provspecialedlicense.pdf** and http://www.fcps.edu/DHR/employees/licensure/pdfs/provspecialedlicense2.pdf**.  Once hired by FCPS a mentor at school will be assigned to your part 2 form by your principal/program manager.

• If you want to teach a foreign language prek-12, you are a native/fluent speaker of that foreign language, have official transcripts reflecting at least a US or US equivalent bachelor’s degree conferred, and have your ACTFL score sheets for passing oral (OPI) and written (WPI) exams for the foreign language prek-12 endorsement sought, please submit on Instructional Vacancies your resume which includes this information. You must obtain the following additional items in your hand to scan and load along with your resume as well as take copies along to FCPS recruitment events, job fairs, and/or interview at school(s)
  1. A copy of your CARI competency record obtained via http://www.fcps.edu/DHR/employees/licensure/cari.htm is required.
