Step 1 – Gather in your hands the following bulleted official proof that may be applicable to you to support your eligibility to add the required endorsement.

Step 2 – Attach your signed and dated letter to the attention VDOE-Licensure requesting the addition of the required endorsement to your current valid license to your gathered proof.

Step 3 - Send your request letter and proof in a single packet via pony mail or postal mail to the FCPS Licensure Office, Department of Human Resources, Gatehouse Administration Center I, 8115 Gatehouse Road, Falls Church, VA 22042. Remember to include your FCPS ID number on your documents.

Upon receipt of your packet, FCPS Licensure Office will transmit your request packet with FCPS payment to VDOE for their final review and decision in about 4-6 weeks from transmittal date.

If the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) finds…

  • You are eligible, VDOE will send a valid VA license with the required endorsement added to your home address on file in FCPS HR and you gain “endorsed? = Yes” status on your school report.
  • Your required endorsement coursework deficiency is no more than 6 semester hours (2 courses short) or you provided special education application, VDOE will send a valid VA 3 school year provisional license with the required endorsement added to your home address on file in FCPS HR. The provisional license will give you time to complete the licensure deficiency(-ies) and you gain “endorsed? = Yes” status on your school report.
  • You are not eligible, you must ask your principal to re-assign you to instructional assignments that match your current license endorsement(s).
