Overview

As of July 2007, hours, points, and/or credits earned via FCPS Academy as well as other FCPS sponsored professional development activities were loaded into My PLT. On My PLT transcripts, all FCPS sponsored professional development activities are called “courses” even though these activities may have been workshops, conferences, and/or in-house or outside training and not necessarily FCPS sponsored coursework. Their course value can be hours, points, credits, or NA.  Thus My PLT transcripts are unofficial.

As of October 2009, hours earned via eLearnIT have been integrated into My PLT transcripts. License renewal point advice from FCPS Licensure Office prior to October 2009 did not include eLearnIT hours. Moving forward one hour equals one license renewal point under license renewal option 8 is the conversion applicable to eLearnIT awarded 5 or more hours. eLearnIT award less than 5 hours are not applicable to license renewal.

Continuing to complete FCPS sponsored activities, including eLearnIT, offered and tracked in My PLT must be pre-approved and/or directed by principal/program manager/supervisor in order to be deemed as acceptable 180 license renewal points for one’s individualized license renewal. On the current license renewal forms in effect as of September 21, 2007, the principal/program manager/supervisor is the “advisor”, licensed employee renewing is the “applicant”, and FCPS licensure assistant is the “superintendent designee”.  Complete license renewal packets are due in the FCPS Licensure Office between January 1 and June 30 of 5-yr VA license expiration year to avoid FCPS non-renewal/dismissal process. Please email your license renewal inquiries to HRLicensure@fcps.edu.

Accessing My PLT

Current school administrators and teacher-scale employees will need to log on to My PLT to review their individual My PLT unofficial transcripts. For help accessing and/or using My PLT, please contact the IT Service Desk at (703) 503-1600 or ITServiceDesk@fcps.edu while at computer. Use the course value type tabs on My PLT transcript view to help sort completed activities and calculate the total number of acceptable license renewal points earned during the validity period of  5-yr VA license towards meeting the required 180 total. If highest degree conferred is a bachelor’s, a minimum of 90 license renewal points have to be three semester hours of college/university coursework or 3 credits of starred [*] FCPS academy coursework.

Reminder

School administrators and teacher-scale employees are required to obtain (in their hands) their official transcript(s) directly from the college/university registrar’s office for all of their college coursework. This is required whether or not FCPS sponsored the course so that it can be reviewed for accuracy. This transcript is then attached to your license renewal packets and/or additional salary requests in order to expedite processing at both FCPS and the state. If you registered and completed FCPS sponsored college coursework offered through the FCPS Academy, these courses are listed on your My PLT transcript. If you have registered and completed other coursework (outside of the FCPS Academy) directly at the same or other college/university, these non-FCPS courses will not be listed on your My PLT transcripts.
