Managing Health Care

When you partner with health care professionals to make more informed health care decisions it will impact your health positively. In turn you will become more proactive in your health care and become a wise consumer of health dollars.

It is important to keep a record of your personal health history especially if you are planning to relocate or need to change doctors. Keep a file at home for each member of your family. Include any medical test results, doctor consult etc. in the files as well as a current immunization record.  Other items that should also be included are:

  • A history of any medical problems, when they were diagnosed by whom and what has been done to treatment them thus far.
  • A list of current medications, why they were prescribed and how long you have been on them. Keep notes of any adverse effects that you have experienced while on medications.
  • A chronological list of all surgeries and hospitalizations as well as the names of the treating doctors.
  •  Any family health history of significant note such a genetic pre-dispositions, generationally reoccurring diseases or disorders etc.
