Q. When and how long is the orientation session?

A. Orientation sessions are held throughout the year and are approximately 3 hours in length. Please refer to the Schedule of Human Resources Orientation Sessions for the sessions currently being scheduled.

Q. Where are the orientation sessions held?

A. The majority of the orientation sessions are held at the Gatehouse Administration Center I, but it is best to check the Schedule of Human Resources Orientation Sessions for the location of the sessions currently being scheduled.  When the session is held at the Gatehouse location, you should park beneath the building then report to the Welcome Center receptionist on the 1st floor.

Q. How do I register for an orientation session?

A. Due to limited seating, it is necessary to register for an orientation session in advance. You may register by filling out the online Orientation Registration Form, stopping by the Welcome Center on the first floor of the Gatehouse Administration Center I when you come in to turn in your documents required for employment, or by calling us to register at 571-423-3024.

Q. What should I bring to the orientation session?

A. If you have completed any of the required forms listed on the orientation website, www.fcps.edu/DHR/applicants/neo/neoforms.htm, prior to coming to your orientation session, you may bring them with you and we will review them for completeness and give them to the appropriate office within Human Resources. Otherwise, the forms will be available at your orientation session and the items you should bring so that you are able to complete the various forms are:

  • Your driver’s license or other photo ID,
  • A voided check from the account that you wish to use for your direct deposit pay,
  • Your social security number and the social security numbers and birth dates of your spouse and/or dependents that you will be enrolling in your health and dental plans,
  • The social security numbers and complete birth dates of those you will be listing as your beneficiaries for your life insurance and retirement benefits.

Q. Can I be fingerprinted and have my photo ID badge made at the orientation sessions?

A. No, it is not part of the session itself, but if your orientation session is being held at the Gatehouse Administration Center I, you may want to arrive early so that you may complete the fingerprinting and badging process prior to the start of the session. You should allow approximately 30 minutes to complete this process. During the summer peak hiring period, it could take longer.

Q. What documents do I need to bring with me to the Department of Human Resources to finalize the hiring process, be fingerprinted, and have my photo ID badge made?

A. As a new instructional employee to Fairfax County Public Schools, you will need to provide to the Office of Instructional Employment the following items:

If you are a new support employee or a new instructional employee: Once the instructional or support employment specialist has received all of your information as indicated above, you may be fingerprinted and have your photo ID badge made. To do this, you must bring:

  • a negative tuberculin (TB) test, or TB screening, dated within the past year
