About Our School...
Columbia Elementary School is committed to providing a challenging curriculum for all students. The school celebrates the diversity of its students. The strong, dedicated teaching staff holds high expectations for all students. Teachers, students and parents work together to ensure that students experience academic success and students grow to be good citizens in a safe environment.
Columbia is located in the Annandale Virginia in Fairfax County. Columbia serves approximately 420 students from 26 different countries. The PTA is active and plays an important role in the Columbia family. The PTA's presence is felt as a positive force in the school as experienced through support of our academic programs, parent volunteers, and special community events.
Columbia staff reaches out to all students and believes that every child makes a difference and has a significant contribution to make. All students are included and treated with respect in an environment conducive to learning.
Unique Programs
- Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology students and senior citizens provide services to students in need of support and/or enrichment.
- Partners in Print, a family literacy program that provides parents an opportunity to learnbest practices to support student reading and literacy at home.
- Instructional programs that support and enrich student learning. Waterford Reading Program, Chess Club and Challenge 24 Tournaments.
- Our Positive Behavior Support program utilizes a character education program that promotes the character traits of honesty, respect, responsibility, kindness, and patience.
