About Library Time

All K-3 classes visit the library each week to hear stories, are introduced to research skills, and check out reading material. Grades 4 and up are taught more in-depth skills and visit at regular times. Research lessons are collaboratively planned with the classroom teachers to integrate content or subject material taught by teachers with the process or information skills taught by the librarian.

The CRS Library maintains an open atmosphere in that all students are welcome to come throughout the day to do research, browse, read, and borrow library material.

The CRS Library takes pride in and is deeply appreciative of the many parent volunteers who come each week to help out with such things as book check outs, "adopt a shelf," assisting students in finding material, and the fall book fair. The library also welcomes suggestions from the CRS community about titles for possible book purchase.

Each morning a cast of sixth graders broadcasts school announcements, the lunch menu, and the weather live over closed circuit television to all classrooms from the library's video production room. The students rotate every two weeks to allow each sixth grader the opportunity to participate.
