Cherry Run Strings

Mrs. Jessica Velasquez
String instruction is offered to students in grades four, five and six. The students may begin instruction on violin, viola, cello or bass. Instruction is part of the block schedule so students do not miss any classwork to participate in the program. Students in fourth grade are taught in homoegeneous classes. Fifth and sixth graders are in ensemble classes. Performances during the year include a "Spooky Strings" concert in October, caroling in December, Colonial Day in January, Orchestra Festival for the Greater Burke Area Orchestra in March, solo and ensemble festival in April and the spring concert in June. One of the best things about playing a string instrument is the versatility of the string family. You will hear classical, fiddle, blues and world music from our students.
