Advanced Academics Parent Orientation- click link for flyer

Cherry Run Blue Theatre, Thurs. Oct. 15, 3-4 pm
Parents interested in learning about the Advanced Academic Program are invited to an orientation describing Fairfax County Public Schools vision of advanced academics and also learn more about the screening process. For more information, contact Debbie Hollings, Cherry Run Advanced Academic Resource Teacher.


We are looking for someone to lead this year's very fun Cherry Run pumpkin patch, which will take place the same week as the Book Fair, Oct. 26-30. If interested, please contact Jackie Balough at Planning for it begins in the upcoming week so kids can get the information they need to know and start decorating their pumpkins. Please consider this fun position!


The Cherry Run Book Fair is just a few weeks away and the PTA is looking for a parent to job shadow current chairs Beth Downey and Amy Slusarczyk and then be able to lead the Committee next year. If you are interested or would like to learn more, please contact Jackie Balough at

Thank you to all of the parents, students, Cherry Run Alumni, grandparents, and groups who came to Cherry Run on Saturday, September 26. The grounds look terrific! All of your hard work is greatly appreciated. Thanks to Kristen Sinclair for chairing the committee and coordinating the mulch delivery, tools, and volunteers.

Thank you to all our Cherry Run families that have brought in Box Tops!   It's almost Box Tops Submission time!  Our school will be sending in the Box Tops collected by November 2nd.  Our goal this year is to collect $3000 in Box Tops. You can help us reach our goal by sending in your Box Tops on Wednesday mornings.  Students will receive a prize when they turn in their Box Tops!

Google Apps for Education -

FCPS Google Apps for Education (GAE) is an integrated communication and collaboration solution, hosted by Google and managed by FCPS.  GAE allows FCPS students to communicate, store files and collaborate with other students on documents, spreadsheets, and presentations in real time from school or home. FCPS Google Apps is not accessible by anyone outside of FCPS, so your child will be able to work and collaborate in a safe and secure online environment. Bring Your Own Device -

The FCPS Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program allows students and staff at Cherry Run to access our wireless network with their personal devices (laptops, netbooks, tablets, smart phones, etc) during the school day for educational purposes. Students may use their own devices to access the internet and collaborate with other students in the classroom. Participating is OPTIONAL.

  • Students/parents are responsible for the security, maintenance, and repair of the device.
  • FCPS staff will not store, support, repair, or troubleshoot student owned devices.
  • Device must be fully charged prior to bringing it to school (no charging during the school day).
  • Student must know how to use device and will connect to the FCPSmobile WiFi using their FCPS domain login.
  • Students are bound to and must comply with FCPS Regulations 6410, 2601, 6401, and DIT Technical Bulletin 302 while on FCPS property, involved in any FCPS sponsored event/activity, or when using FCPS resources, regardless of who owns the computer or device used by student or how it is connected.
  • The FCPS Acceptable Use Policy in the Student Rights and Responsibilities now includes permission for BYOD.
  • Teacher discretion if/when a student is allowed to use their BYOD for instructional use, which does not include phone calls, texting, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
  • Device free zones:  hallways, cafeteria, recess, restrooms, field trips.
