Service Hours Available for Middle and High School Students
The SYC Soccer Club sponsors the Virginian tournament over Memorial Day weekend and while all parents are required to pick up a volunteer shift, there are some simple jobs specifically for middle and high school students who need service hours, such as assisting parent volunteers in maintaining the scoreboard, checking in volunteers, and directing families to the right field. Those interested can contact site supervisor Audrey Stein at firstname.lastname@example.org for assisting at Hayfield HS or Hooes Rd Park locations. Here is the link where students can sign up directly for the U9 games: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090a49aeaf23ab9-2016 or you can sign up here for U11 girls fields: http://www.SignUpGenius.com/go/5080544A4AD23A57-thevirginian/1928196>

DRA2 Assessments for Grades 1-2 and KG
DRA2 assessments for grades 1-2 and KG and DRA 2 word analysis assessments for kindergartners will be held between May 2-25. The Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA) is a standardized reading test used to determine a student’s instructional level in reading. Teachers use DRA results, along with the results of other assessments, to determine whether students are reading on, above, or below grade level. By knowing student DRA levels, teachers can plan for small group, guided reading instruction, including targeted interventions and supplemental support. Teachers select materials that match students’ instructional levels and provide appropriate instruction to challenge them.
