If you are
enrolled in Honors and/or AP
courses
for the
next year, it is important
that you read this information.
The decision to take a Honors
and/or AP course is a serious
one. The work in these courses
will require the following:
1. Exemplary work habits
2. Exemplary time management skills
3. A genuine desire to learn
4. Personal responsibility for
attendence and work requirements
5. Self-discipline and determination
to succeed
6. AP students are required to
take the AP exam(s) in May 2004.
If you enroll
in Honors and/or AP courses,
you will
be required to remanin in that
class at least through the first
quarter. Requests to drop a
Honors and/or AP course after
the first
quarter will be reviewed by
the administrative committee
after
the student has successfully
completed the academic assistance
form and
if there is space available
in the requested class. If a
move
can be made after the first
quarter ends, the grade(s) earned
in the
Honors and/or AP class will
transfer to the new class.
To assist you in determining
what might be a responsable
academic load, members of the
Class or
2002 who applied to highly selective
colleges averaged a six AP courses
and seven Honors courses during
their four years of high school.
With this in mind, it is recommended
that you take no more
than three or four Honors and/or
AP courses per year.
Please contact
your counselor before the end
of school in June if you have
questions about the
above
information.
