Overview of Special Resource Personnel
The school social worker, school psychologist, school nurse, and
ADS counselor comprise the staff of special resource personnel.
The social worker may become involved
in cases where the student is experiencing
academic, emotional, or adjustment problems
that are related to life outside of school.
The social worker visits the home, discusses
the situation with the parents, and then
reports to the school.
The school psychologist consults with
the staff regarding a student whenever
appropriate. The psychologist also conducts
psychological evaluations for students
who are referred for special program placement.
The school nurse becomes involved with
students who have special health problems.
In order to make a referral
to the social worker, school
psychologist or school nurse,
a staff member should talk with the counselor
who then completes the proper referral
form in the subschool.
