Career Center Resources

Listed below are a few of the online programs and websites that students and parents should find useful in post-high school planning. Please check back frequently for new programs and updates.

Family Connection (Access through Student Blackboard/FCPS24-7 Account: http://fcps.blackboard.com)

Family Connection is a web-based service designed especially for high school students and their parents. Family Connection is a comprehensive website that helps students make decisions about academic plans, colleges, and careers. Family Connection is linked with Counselor’s Office, a service used in FCPS school counseling offices to track and analyze data about college and career plans, so it provides up-to-date information that is specific to each student's school.

Career Connections (http://www.fcps.edu/ss/CareerConnections/index.htm)

This website, developed by Fairfax County Career Connections, is a comprehensive site containing hundreds of links for career & job information and post high school options (including apprenticeships, military options, and preparing for college).

KUDER (http://www.kuder.com)

The Kuder Career Planning System offers interest, skills, and work values assessments for career planners at all stages of career development. Registration is free and offers immediate access to college/career planning timelines, as well as college and financial aid information. Batch codes for each assessment can be found in the Career Center.

Virginia View (http://www.vaview.org)

This website offers career information and employment opportunities throughout the state of Virginia. Database also includes college information, financial aid information and many other resources.

FCPS Scholarship Database (http://www.fcps.edu/ssseapps/scholarshipdb/)

This database is maintained by Fairfax County and includes scholarship information for all FCPS students. Most of the scholarships on this site are only available to students in the DC metro/Northern Virginia area, instead of national contests. For opportunities available solely to Chantilly students, contact the Career Center directly.

Career Cruising (http://www.careercruising.com)

This program offers one of the most user-friendly interest inventories that will translate into both English and Spanish.
