FCPS Temporay Care Guidelines For Emergencies

School personnel and clinic room aides are responsible for providing health care and emergency treatment according to FCPS guidelines until Emergency Medical Services (EMS/911), or parent/guardian arrives to assume health care responsibility.

Beginning April 1, 2005, Fairfax County’s EMS system will bill for transporting an ill or injured citizen to a hospital Emergency Room. The amount of the charge is dependent on the level of response needed. Per FCPS protocol, once EMS has been called by or clinic personnel, the parent will be notified. Timely arrival at the school of a parent or guardian is very important. To aid in timely response, please keep Emergency Care Card for your FCPS student updated. It will be helpful to add other contacts that are willing to come to aid of your student.
