College Partnership Program

Description of Club:

The CPP nurtures positive attitudes toward academic achievements. The primary goal of the program is to increase the number of students, particularly minority students and first generation students who enroll in college.

Who do we serve:

The CPP serves approximately 2,000 students in grades 7 through12 from 52 middle and high schools. The primary goal annd emphasis of the program is to increase the academic achievement of students, and to increase the number of studens, particularly first generation and/or minority students, who enroll in CPP and succeed in college. Freshman, Sophomores, and Juniors are eligible to apply.

Students in the following groups are also considered (they do not have to meet all of the criteria, just some)

  • Show potential for high academic achievement, but may have not consistently demonstrated it
  • Demonstrate ability to complete college work, but may need motivation to sustain interest
  • Represent a family with income insufficient to support college without financial assistance
  • Demonstrate interest and enthusiasm for learning and school
  • Demonstrate leadership in school activities

CPP requires students to maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 in core subjects and to attend at least 50% of all scheduled meetings.
