Prerequisite: One laboratory science course, Algebra 1

Course Description: Chemistry 1 provides students the opportunity to develop their critical thinking skills as they acquire a better understanding of the chemical nature of our world. Students investigate the composition, properties, and reactions of matter. The approach is inductive, mathematical, and conceptual. Laboratory experiments and subsequent classroom analysis are integral components of the course. Students are required to take the Standards of Learning End of Course Test.
