School Board Policy
The Fairfax County School Board requires that students and their families purchase a parking permit to park on school property. The county wide fee for the parking permit is $150.00. Students are encouraged to utilize the school buses whenever possible. At Chantilly HS there are a limited number of student parking spaces available each school year. No student is guaranteed a parking space.
Parking Regulations
Parking applications are distributed in the beginning of May for the following school year by the security office. The applications should be returned to the security office by the return date listed on the application. Applications will not be accepted after the return date. Parking assignments are made over the summer so students can pick up their parking assignment the last week of August during “Chargin In”. Student parking is a privilege; no student is guaranteed a parking assignment. Typically there are more students applying for parking than there are available parking spaces. All students who apply will not receive a parking assignment.
The following information contains some of the basic parking regulations that students most often have to deal with. This is not a complete list. Please see the parking application packet or contact the security office for the complete list of parking rules and regulations. If there are any questions the security office number is 703-222-7099. The security office is closed during the summer months, spring break and winter break.
Seniors are given first priority for student parking. Should the number of seniors applying for parking exceed the number of available student parking spaces, seniors will be selected randomly for parking. If there are any remaining parking spaces they are given to Junior’s randomly. The Chantilly HS administrative staff reserves the right to deny parking to any student at any time.
Student vehicles parked on school/library property must display a current Chantilly HS parking permit in clear view from the rear view mirror at all times. Students should park only in their assigned parking space. Students should not park in another person’s parking space for any reason. CHS has a limited number of parking spaces in the public library lot. Only students assigned to a parking space in the library lot should be parking in the library, all others will be ticketed. If a student has a parking problem they should park in a visitors spot and notify security immediately. Vehicles found parked in violation will be ticketed and could be booted or towed.
Once a student arrives at school they must promptly enter the school building and cannot return to their vehicle until their school day is complete without a pass from security or their sub school. Students should not park in the “Visitor” parking spaces at any time unless directed to do so by security staff. Chantilly Academy and post graduate students are not considered to be visitors.
Students are expected to obey all traffic laws and to drive in a safe and courteous manner at all times. Students who drive in violation of the law or in an unsafe manner will lose their parking privileges for 30 school days for the first violation and it will be permanently revoked for the second violation. There are no refunds on parking fees.
The replacement fee for a lost/stolen/damaged parking permit is $10.00. Students who leave school grounds in violation of school rules will have their parking permit suspended for 30 school days for the first violation and permanently revoked for the remainder of the school year on the second violation (passenger or driver). The administrators at CHS reserve the right to revoke all parking privileges for the remainder of the school year on the first offense for leaving school grounds. The maximum speed limit on Chantilly HS property is 15MPH at all times.
Parking Fines/Consequences

All other parking violations (2nd and subsequent tickets) $50.00 Fine
Parking fines are to be paid within 30 days of the date of issue on the first ticket. A second or subsequent ticket requires all outstanding parking fines to be paid immediately. A vehicle can be booted or towed at any time if there are any outstanding parking fines past 30 days. Vehicles can also be towed or booted for repeated violations. If your vehicle is booted, all fines must be paid prior to the boot being removed. Chantilly HS uses a local towing company should there be a need to tow any vehicle. Chantilly HS is not responsible for any damage to the vehicle or missing property and the owner is responsible for the payment of all towing and storage fees.
Parking is limited at CHS and there are no “extra” parking spaces. Visitors/parents should only park in the visitor parking spaces which have the word “Visitor” clearly painted in the parking space in large white letters. All other parking spaces are assigned to students or staff. Students should not park in the Fairfax County public library parking lot, the Greenbriar Shopping Center or the Shenandoah Crossing Apartments at any time. These areas are regularly patrolled and vehicles are ticketed and/or towed.
