Class Dues
Junior class dues will be $50 through December 21, 2012. After that date, dues will increase to $55. Senior class dues may also be paid at the same time in the amount of $50. This amount will increase to $55 in the first semester of Senior year. Please make checks payable to Chantilly High School, and write the name of your student and Class of 2014 on the face of your check. Continue reading on the back to learn how your student’s dues are allocated.
What Your Junior and Senior Dues Pay For
Junior and Senior dues cover all class activities, including Prom, Convocation, and Graduation, including practices and actual events. Graduation is the largest cost item, running about $40,000 each year. Part of the breakdown for graduation costs:
- Rental of the Patriot Center (over $7500)
- Security (police) at Graduation (over $500)
- Caps, gowns, tassels and diploma covers (over $10000)
- Flowers (used at all three events)
- Printing for all events (over $1200)
- Set-up costs (custodians)
- Bus costs for band and chorus who perform at Graduation
These are only part of the costs for putting on the terrific graduations we have each year so that they are a memorable occasion for all. Dues also subsidize the All Night Grad party and Prom so the cost per student is less for each event. Each year the senior class also presents a gift to the school. Classes of 2006 and 2007 contributed to funds to install an electronic marquee at the front of the school. The Class of 2009 provided new tables and chairs for the CHS cafeteria and the Class of 2010 generously donated to the Charger Turf 2011 project. Last year the Class of 2012 contributed to a beautification project for the school’s landscaping and main entrance planter.
As you can see, your dues are distributed among several events and cover all your items for graduation, such as cap, gown, diploma cover and tassel. By paying your dues early, you receive a cost break so take advantage of the first semester discount. Class dues must be paid in order to pick up your yearbook, buy Prom tickets or attend graduation. ALL class expenditures are authorized and verified by the class sponsors, the class administrator and the Finance Office to ensure that all monies are well spent. If you have any questions, please contact Tim O’Reilly in Subschool 4, class administrator for the Class of 2014.
