Computer Systems Technology

Certifications - The A+ Certification is recognized as the national standard for Computer Service Technicians. Completion of this course and the A+ Exam will allow students to seek part-time and full-time employment with high-tech companies throughout the Washington Metropolitan Area

Course Description - The Computer Technology program is a two-credit course designed for college-bound students as well as students interested in pursuing a career in the computer industry. Students will develop microcomputer building/repair skills and related knowledge essential for successful transition into the computer service technician field, not to mention useful to all computer users.
The emphasis of the class will be placed on building, maintaining, and servicing computers and related peripheral equipment as well as Windows Operating Systems. Students who are successful in this course will be encouraged to take the A+ Computer Technician Certification Exam.
This course is competency based, utilizing computer based training systems (simulated A+ test allows students to practice). Computer hardware lab exercises, with extensive textbook reading and worksheets, will be required.
