Course Description: This two-year program enables students to learn the eight major systems of the automobile, related tools and equipment, and the automotive industry. Major topics include: engine performance, brakes, and electrical systems. An emphasis is placed on diagnosing systems, developing troubleshooting skills, and the safe use of laboratory equipment. Students perform technical operations using diagnostic equipment, scanners, multimeters, and a computerized data information system during laboratory procedures defined by National Automotive Technology Education Foundation (NATEF). Students are tested on the Automotive Service

Prerequisites
Useful skills for this class include: computer literacy, manual dexterity,
mechanical aptitude, basic auto mechanics, algebra, geometry, and the
ability to function within a teamwork environment.
