Centreville High School is committed to meeting the needs of all of our students. In order to meet students where they are academically, it is vital that we have opportunities to meet on occasions outside of the regularly scheduled class time. Too often, because of the demands of a comprehensive high school and the commitments of our students, we are not able to utilize after school time effectively. Therefore, we have developed a new schedule that will provide students and teachers an extra opportunity to meet and extend their experiences beyond what they may have already received during the “regular” instructional time while still in school.

The purpose of the PLUS period is to help students better understand previously introduced material through reviewing, remediation, and enrichment activities, or through activities which otherwise support the curriculum and learning.

    Teachers will focus on:

  • remediation and reinforcement
  • enrichment activities
  • material missed through absence
  • material reviewed and re taught
  • make up tests and quizzes
  • make up work
  • organizing class materials

Students will use the PLUS period time (9 - 9:31 AM Daily) to rotate their schedule. For a look at the 2008-2009 A/B schedule with the plus periods, click here.

The Code of Virginia no longer requires school libraries to maintain hard copies of Notices, Policies, and Regulations (also known as Directives). Any citizen who requests a hard copy of a directive has a right to receive it and should be provided the most current version printed from the web page.  The School Board Office, at Gatehouse Administration Center I, will continue to maintain the historical records of all directives.
