News/Information

Students continue developing as individual musicians and as members of a musical group. Emphasis is placed on the development of all levels of technical and ensemble skills necessary for performance. After-school rehearsals and performances are required of all students as an integral part of the course. Marching band techniques and performances may be included.

--Three band students and two orchestra students have been selected to participate in the All-VA Band and Orchestra event, April 12-14. This is a tremendous accomplishment and a real feather in the cap of our school! We are so proud of how hard these students have worked and know they will represent Centreville High School very well at the event. Congratulations Ali Dettmer (sophomore flute, All-VA orchestra), Joy Kim (sophomore violin, All-VA orchestra), Jackie Lin (senior violin, All-VA orchestra) Rosemary Song (senior oboe, All-VA band) and Ho-Jin Yeo (sophomore clarinet, All-VA band)! Overall, a great weekend for our Centreville musicians. Congratulations to these student performers..

Extra special recognition goes to Rachel, Ali and Ho-Jin on placing high enough in their ensembles to be eligible to audition for All-VA Band in February. What a tremendous accomplishment!!Thanks to all 70 band students who took the time to prepare and audition. We're very proud of all of you!

--Congratulations to these 12 band students who participated in this weekend’s All District Band festival at Woodson High School. They had the opportunity to work with nationally known conductors Frank Wickes (formerly of LSU) and Dr. Milt Allen (of The Ohio State University). The CVHS Concert, Symphonic, Wind Ensemble & Percussion Ensemble Bands will perform on Thursday May 10 at 7pm in the CVHS Auditorium. This concert will be free to everyone.
