Students with an F
• Students with at least one F at the end of a grade period (interim or quarter) will be given a schedule as to which teacher(s) they have to report to during CATS until the end of the grading period. Attendance is mandatory.
• Only Core class F’s (Math, Science, English, Social Studies, Foreign Language) will be assigned.
• If a student has more than 2 Fs we will choose only 2 of those subjects to focus on for the 4 weeks. Teachers and counselors will help the CATS Coordinator choose only 2 of those subjects to focus on for the 4 weeks.
Students without an F
• Students who do not have an F on their interim will be allowed to choose where they will go during Wildcat Time – options include a classroom, computer lab, Media Center, or cafeteria.
• Students will NOT be allowed to leave the place they have chosen to go during CATS. Once they are in a classroom/cafeteria/Media Center/computer lab they are to remain there until the bell.
• By the end of 1st or 2nd period students will sign a list stating where they plan to go during CATS. This will help keep the students accountable and it will expedite the process of finding a student during this time.
• In the classrooms there will be a sheet for students to sign in when they get there for CATS. This will help hold the students accountable and it will give the teacher a record of the students who have come to the room.
Teachers
• All teachers will be in a room during this time. Teachers may not leave the classroom during CATS.
• Teachers may request students with A, B, C, or D to come to them during this time.
• A teacher’s first priority is to those F students assigned to your room, but teachers are able to help and work with any other students who are in the classroom.
• Teachers will help students in a variety of ways: doing homework, test corrections, test review, SOL review, organization, outlining textbooks. Teachers are welcome to create new material, but they do not have to as they can utilize the resources that are already in place.
Consequences
• A system of consequences will be put in place when students are not in one of the optional areas or do not report to the teacher that they are assigned.
PLUS(Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays)
• During PLUS, no new material will be presented. The focus of PLUS should be remediation, reinforcement, make-up work, make-up tests, make-up quizzes, organizing class material, etc.
• Once a student goes to class, the Media Center, or the computer lab, they will stay there.
• If going to the Media Center or the computer lab, the student must leave the class immediately with a pass. There will be NO admittance to the Media Center or labs after 5 minutes into the period.
