Career Center
The CVHS Career Center is located on the first floor, in the classroom just off of the cafeteria. It is open M-F (7:15-2:45) or by appointment. The Career Center provides information and access to college and career computer programs, college resources, financial aid, testing information, career information, job listings, summer opportunities, and volunteer programs. Career Center Announcements

ASVAB testing  March 24th  7:30-10:00 AM at Centreville HS
The Career Center will be administering the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) on Wednesday, March 24th from 7:30 am to 10:30am in the Lecture Hall. The test is intended for students in the 11th and 12th grades to assist them in matching their skills, interests and work values in post-secondary planning. Students interested in learning more about career options, particularly those in the armed forces, should consider taking this test. (A student does not have to enter the military if they take the test.)
More information on the ASVAB test and program can be found a t www.asvabprogram.com. Interested students may sign up in the Career Center no later than March 18th.

Two College Fairs Coming to Fairfax County!
Spring  2010-All are welcome and there is no registration required!
April 7th SEC(Southeastern Conference) College Fair at Oakton HS  6:00 pm-8:30 pm. This fair will also be held the next day, April 8th, 4:00 pm-8:30 PM at the Waterford at Fair Oaks. This Conference Includes the University of Alabama , Univ of Arkansas, Auburn University,Univ of Florida, University of Georgia, University of Kentucky, Louisiana  State University,Ole Miss, Mississippi State University, University of South Carolina, University of Tennessee and  Vanderbilt.

April 21st the Virginia Regional College Fair at George Mason University’s Patriot Center  6:30 PM-8:30 pm. Check out a list of the colleges attending this fair at http://admissions.gmu.edu/rsvp/nvrcf/attending.asp

Tools for the College Application Process-using Family Connection  is an evening workshop for juniors and their parents that will be held on April 14th at 7 pm in the Theatre. For an updated list of colleges representative information sessions, click here. To attend a session, juniors and seniors must obtain a pass from the Career Center no later than 24 hours before a session  in order to attend Passes must be signed by your classroom teacher.

Financial Aid
Filing your FAFSA online has become easier than ever. Seniors and their families should be getting ready to submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).(www.fafsa.ed.gov). It is very important that you check the financial aid websites for the colleges you have applied to determine their deadline for filing the FAFSA form. Not sure if you should complete a FAFSA form? Summer Opportunities
Looking for information about summer programs offered by camps, schools, colleges, and universities both nationwide and abroad? Students and parents can search by interest area, location, program name, or by using a keyword by going to: http://www.fcps.edu/suptapps/summeropportunities/ProgramSearch.cfm. A link to each program is provided for more information. Offerings include enrichment opportunities in academic areas as well as college planning, volunteer opportunities and other special interests.
