Congratulations to the boys cross country teams for advancing for the first time in school history to the Virginia AAA State Meet by finishing 4th at the Northern Region Meet on November 4. Leading the way for the Wildcats was Senior Yazid Zouaimia who earned All-Region honors by finishing 4th overall with a time of 15:24. Also scoring for Centreville were junior Bobby Kelly (18th, 16:00) followed by seniors Mattson Heiner (21st, 16:03), Joey Hannah (56th, 16:36), and Ben Salmon (61st, 16:38). Rounding out the state qualifying team were seniors Michael Lapuz and Tom Marotta. The team finished with 140 points, trailing Regional Champion Oakton (79 points), Lake Braddock (2nd place, 105 points), and West Potomac (3rd place, 127 points). The team finished ahead of 12 other teams including Herndon (7th, 169 points) and Chantilly (8th, 108 points). The team will next compete on November 14th (1:45) at the VHSL State Meet at the Plains.
The girls cross country team finished 10th out of 16 teams at the Northern Region Meet. The young team was led by junior Juli Cuomo (23rd place, 18:46), freshman Isabela Medina (47th, 19:26), sophomore Hayley Anderson (59th, 19:44), junior Brynna Heflin (73rd, 19:59), and freshman Rebecca Vinter (80th, 20:10). Rounding out the top 7 were juniors Rachel Brown (20:15) and Sarah Hollenbeck.
- The annual Touching Bases will be held November 11 from 12:30-3. Students will be released at 11:25. The bell schedule is as follows.

Students received the annual federal impact aid form during their 7th period classes. All students were informed that this form should be sent home, filled out, and returned to their 7th period teacher. Parents who have not received this form from their students can download it here.

In addition, on November 11th, please join us at the main entrance of CVHS at 7:05 am for a flag rising ceremony and National Anthem (sung by our own CVHS choir) to commemorate Veteran’s Day. - Congratulations to the wildcat cheerleading squad for finishing second in the semi-final round of the Northern Regional Tournament. The team will compete in the regional finals on Saturday, November 7 (5PM) at Robinson Secondary School.
- The annual powder puff footbal game will be held on Wednesday, November 11th at 7PM. Come watch the junior girls battle the senior girls. The game will be held at the football stadium and admission is $5.
- Theatre Centreville is proud to present Dracula. The show will be performed on November 19, 20, and 21. All performances will begin at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $10. Senior Citizen Preview Night is November 19, with $5 tickets for seniors age 65 and older. This play is not suited for children under twelve years of age. - Congratulations to the boys and girls cross country teams for advancing to next week's Northern Region Championship Meet which will be held on Thursday, November 5 (3:15 PM) at Burke Lake Park.
- The boys team finished 2nd at the District meet. Senior Yazid Zouaimia (3rd) finished with a time of 15:16. Earning All-District honors with Zouaimia were junior Bobby Kelly (10th) and senior Mattson Heiner (11th). Seniors Joey Hannah (18th) and Bennett Salmon (19th) rounded out the scoring for the Wildcats. The boys finished with 61 points, falling to Oakton's 35 points, while beating Herndon (65 points), Chantilly (78 points), Robinson (106 points), and Westfield (169 points).
- The girls team finished 3rd overall. Junior Juli Cuomo led the way with a 4th place, 18:46 finish. Freshman Isabela Medina (9th) and sophomore Hayley Anderson (15th) also earned All-District honors while junior Brynna Heflin (22nd), and freshman Rebecca Vinter (25th) finished the scoring for the Wildcats. The team's 75 points trailed only Robinson (41 points) and Oakton (56 points). The Wildcats finished ahead of Herndon (88 points), Westfield (112 points), and Chantilly (119 points).

- The PTSA is sponsoring a practice ACT test on December 5th (8AM - 12PM). The ACT is growing in popularity, and frequently,students perform better on the ACT than the SAT. This practice test allows your student to gain confidence in taking the test, but at a substantially lower fee than the actual test. It will be given at Centreville High, and is available to all students. The cost is $15, which includes a follow-up session to help understand how your student performed. That session will be at the high school on December 16 at 7:00. Forms are available in the school office, or it can be downloaded off the PTSA website. Payments should be mailed to the school. - Come watch the field hockey girls as they coach the CVHS boys in the first STUDS & STICKS GAME on Friday, November 13th. The freshman boys will take on the sophomore boys at 5:30 and the junior boys will take on the senior boys right after. Admission is $3.00 and concessions will be available.

- The CVHS Wrestling and Football programs are co-sponsoring the 5th Annual Basket Bingo. With the football season underway and wrestling set to begin shortly, the Teams will begin to sell tickets to this event. Mark your calendars now for Saturday, December 5th from 1:15pm – 4:30pm. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. with the Bingo games starting at 1:15 p.m. There will be great baskets filled with all kinds of seasonal goodies for every bingo game won. You will also be able to buy raffle tickets for special baskets and door prizes will be awarded. Food and drinks will be served. Tickets are $15 each (buy 4 and get 1 free!). All proceeds benefit the CVHS Wrestling and Football Programs.
- The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) is a multi-aptitude battery that consists of 8 short individual tests covering General Science, Arithmetic Reasoning, Work Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, Mathematics Knowledge, Electronics Information, Auto and Shop Information, and Mechanical Comprehension. The ASVAB helps students identify their different skills and competencies essential to career exploration and goal setting. Students receive their test results in a follow up session where they will be lead in a discussion on how to utilize the information to identify potential career paths.
- The ASVAB is administered by a military agency. It is used as a step by those preparing for a career in the military, but is also used by many students who are interested in general career exploration. The test is free of charge and will be given Nov. 13th from 7:30 am-10:30 am in the Lecture Hall. Students may sign up in the Career Center if they wish to take this test. They will be given a permission slip to be signed by their 2nd, and 4th period teachers that must be returned to the Career Center by Nov. 10h. The follow up test interpretation session(1 Hour) will be held in December in the Career Center.
- There are copies of ASVAB Career Exploration brochure in the Career Center that will be given to any interested student. Staff is welcome to come by the Career Center for their own copy or if you have any additional questions about this opportunity for our students.
- Tryouts for winter sports will begin on Monday November 16th. All student athletes must have a physical (dated 5/1/09 or later) on file with the student activities office in order to try out for any team. Please turn in physicals to the Student Activities office NO LATER than 11/12/09. If an athlete still needs to get a physical, they are being offered at Fairfax High School on November 11th from 6-8 PM. The cost is $50 if you pre-register or $60 for walk-ins. - The 2010 After Grad party will take place at the ESPN Zone in Washington DC on graduation night, Friday, June 18, 2010. Tickets will be on sale for the advance sale price of $50 on November 23, 24, and 30. Checks should be made payable to CVHS PTSA After Grad and may be mailed to the school at Centreville High School, Attention: PTSA After Grad, 6001 Union Mill Road, Clifton, VA 20124.
There will be an After Grad planning meeting on Tuesday, November 10th at 7 PM. in the Media Center.
- The Centreville Wildcat Band department is happy to announce its annual citrus sale. Band students and the wildcat band boosters will be taking orders from Nov. 4- Nov. 23, 2009. Fruit will be available for pick-up at the school in the band room on Friday, Dec. 4, 2009.
A full case contains 50 to 56 oranges or 30 to 35 grapefruit and sells for $30.00. A half case contains 25 to 28 oranges or 15 to 20 grapefruit and sells for $20.00. New this year are mixed full cases selling for $35.00 and mixed half cases selling for $25.00.
