It is extremely important that children continue to read during the summer months in order to help them make a smoother transition into the next grade level. It will also prevent your child from losing reading skills that he or she has gained this year.

     
In order to help you and your child choose books, we have included a list of suggested books for your child’s grade level. Fairfax County Public Schools expects that fifth graders entering sixth grade will read at least one novel during the summer. Since we have such great readers at Centreville, we expect that our rising sixth graders will read more than one novel during the summer.
