Welcome to the Centre Ridge Elementary School Counseling website! Ms. Flannagan and Mrs. Surak are your school counselors.

Ms. Flannagan works with students in Kindergarten (Arora, Climo, Cruzan,), Second, Fifth (Dent, Grayson, Rose/Prokop), and Sixth grades.

Mrs. Surak works with students in Kindergarten (Abner & Cagle), First, Third, Fourth and Fifth grades.(Cooney, Rose/Prokop)

What are school counselors?

School counselors are helpers in the school who work with students, parents, and teachers. We help kids learn about things like solving conflicts, making friends, understanding feelings, and practicing good study skills. School counselors have at least a masters degree in counseling, and have been specially trained to work with school aged children.

What do school counselors do?

Ms. Flannagan and Mrs. Surak:

• Talk with individual students
• Meet with students in small groups
• Teach classroom guidance lessons
• Teach parenting classes
• Work with programs throughout the school that help maximize student development, such as Peer Mediators, the Mentoring Program, and the Volunteer Program.
