STUDENT GUIDELINES AND DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES

Cedar lane is an educational facility whose main goal is to provide an atmosphere where students can achieve their potential academically and emotionally in a safe supportive environment.  To succeed, students must cooperate and follow policies and guidelines provided by the Fairfax County School Board and the Cedar Lane staff.   Students and their parents should become extremely familiar with all of the Student Responsibilities and Rights Policies (the current version of 2601.)  If school policies are violated, appropriate disciplinary action will follow.  These policies are discussed with all students formally once a semester, with all conversations about these policies being on-going.  Please return the signed copy of “Acknowledgement of Parental Responsibilities” to Cedar lane no later than September 11, 2011 This will enable both you and the school to be in compliance with state regulations regarding student conduct.

The staff at Cedar lane tries to handle all problems at the time they occur.  The classroom teacher handles most inappropriate behaviors within the classroom.  The least severe of these involves the loss of some privilege within the class.  To address more severe problems, students may be removed from the class and assigned to re-orientation (REO), after school detention, In-School suspension (ISS) or out of school suspension (OSS).
