ESOL Vision Statement

Our mission is to consider the progress of each ESOL student as they move forward in the process of learning English with the understanding that students acquire language at different paces and that time is needed to learn academic English. Our focus therefore, is on the learning of content and language at the same time as we collaborate with classroom teachers to set instructional goals for the ESOL students. We conduct ongoing assessment to determine our student’s needs and provide instruction by to match these needs always taking into consideration their proficiency level. We maintain high expectations for our students and support their learning as they progress toward grade-level objectives

ESOL Services:

• Develop students’ English language proficiency and academic skills
• Creates supportive learning environments which value and build on students’ academic, linguistic, and cultural backgrounds
• Builds teachers’ skills to employ best instructional practices
• Builds connections between ESOL and school wide instructional programs
• Encourages participation of students and their families within the school community.
