Home About Us For Parents For Community Staff New Students

The Sixth Grade operates by using a modified middle school schedule.  Students from each homeroom are re-grouped for a 60-70 minute math class five days a week. Every student switches for Science/Health or Social Studies, while having their homeroom teacher for one of these classes.  The Science/Health and Social Studies classes are each 45 minutes and meet 4 days a week.  Language Arts is taught by the homeroom teacher.  This class is 45 minutes on Monday and 90 minutes the remainder of the week.

The Sixth Graders will enjoy some special events this year.  In October, we will traveling to West Springfield High School to visit the planetarium.  In November, we will be going to Hemlock Overlook for an all day team-building experience.  March will bring us to our trip to Washington, D.C. to explore the National Portrait Museum.  In April 2011, we will have our 9th annual Sixth Grade vs. CFES Staff basketball game.  In April or May, we will visit Mount Vernon to complete our studies of early America.  We will complete the year with our promotion ceremony.

We are looking forward to an unforgettable year for everyone!
