Welcome to Fifth Grade at Cardinal Forest! Fifth grade is an invigorating year where students have a chance to learn and are challenged expand their thinking. We are constantly searching for the deeper meaning and looking to internalize concepts, effective reading strategies, and writing skills. Books and computer databases are used as students research science topics such as landforms, oceans, light, and sound. We connect to the ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia, India, China, Greece, and the Middle Ages and look for ways these cultures have touched our own. We challenge students in math by thinking through word problems and expecting students to explain how they determined their answer. We understand children’s individual needs and know it is possible to meet those needs in order for each child to feel successful in fifth grade.
