James Monroe
James Monroe was
the fifth president of the United States of America. To prevent a
Civil War during his lifetime, he passed the Missouri Compromise.
It allowed Missouri to have slaves even though it was in the North.
James Monroe bought the Louisiana territory while James Madison was president.
The time that he was president was known as "the era of good feeling."
