Coal Mining
In Virginia, the first piece of coal was found in 1701. There are
many types of mining such as strip mining, shaft mining, and steam mining.
In shaft mining, there are at least two main shafts, the air shaft and
the elevator shaft. Many people use coal to heat their homes. There
are two types of coal, Anthracite and Bituminus.
