The Jamestown
Fort was an actual fort with houses on the inside. It was built in a triangular
shape. There were 3 cannons on each corner. The fort was built first when
the English claimed the land. The Jamestown Fort was the actual settlement
itself. The first leader of the fort was Captain John Smith. The fort was
surrounded by woods and the James river. The settlers had felt safer after
they had built the fort.
